Sure, resistance training “works” in older adults. But is this true even in the “oldest old“ (aged 85+)? After 12 weeks of resistance training, older adults aged 85+ had similar gains in muscle size, strength, and functional performance to those aged up to 20 years younger…

Super excited to get this one out! Here, we establish the reliability and minimal detectable change values for backward walking outcomes! Check it out below!

New paper! · #Backward #walking metrics, including BW velocity, reliably assess #MultipleSclerosis mobility. · BW in MS shows modest correlations with future #falls & physical activity, warranting further study. @Paddytwin1 @WSU_NNL meridian.allenpress.com/ijmsc/article/…

Why do female patients with AD have more pronounced tau pathology compared to males? Wang et al. provide evidence that amyloid modulates tau phosphorylation in a sex-specific manner, contributing to faster neurofibrillary tau accumulation in females. tinyurl.com/5n7jfpf8

At 10-yr RCT follow-up, ~80% of patients with knee OA with physical therapy and meds did not have a knee replacement - with or without added arthroscopic surgery. Delaying joint replacement is not a supported rationale for knee arthroscopic surgery for OA. ja.ma/4aYpNAG

Very, very proud of this outcome of my postdoc research. The take-home is that although dopamine intake improves communication between the brain and muscles, Parkinson's Disease individuals' gait remains affected. I presented part of it at #NCMDub24 nature.com/articles/s4200…

One of my favourite papers I've led. Here, we use virtual reality to explore how anxiety affects locomotor learning and updating. Key finding: locomotor actions learned in the presence of anxiety lead to enhanced and prolonged after-effects.
