About to teach a class about the invasion of Poland in 1939. 10 years ago I would be saying things like: "Poles used cavalry against tanks." "Poles never stood a chance." "Poland gave up quickly." Now I'm teaching it slightly differently. Some key facts I'm going to include:…

Custom dice in board game combat systems is so hot right now.
Been playing Arcs, solo, 4 player with the "Leaders and Lore" rules. First up - this is a large mental load to handle solo. 4 players each with their own Leader (2 different special rules, one good and one bad) plus Lore (another beneficial special rule). I hadn't noticed how…
Next year I get to teach a class on game design for 8th graders. I know what you're all thinking and yes, they will be forced to play Axis and Allies and Twilight Imperium as a learning experience.
Saw this on Facebook. With USA possibly raising tariffs on China, board game manufacturers might have to shift elsewhere. There are lots of suggestions in the comments. Two common ones: Vietnam Poland Personally I would love to see a flowering of board game manufacturing in…
There are two types of board games. There are wargames, which are made by Americans (see left). Then there are euro games, which are made by Germans (see right).
As more people start to open their copies of One Hour WW2 and play, I thought I'd post some of the strategy articles I wrote earlier this year to give the newbies some guidance. Here is one for the USA: USA Strategy Guide The USA is the Arsenal of Democracy, with more Action…

Another CCG? In this economy? 😅 No worries, @manacaster_game is not a "collectible card game." It will be sold in sets with their exact contents published online; no booster packs, no rarity tiers, and no chase cards. Foil cards will be optional and cosmetic only 😌👍
WANT TO SUPPORT MANACASTER? Best thing everyone can do to help right now is: Follow us on everywhere. Here: @manacaster_game FB: facebook.com/manacaster.game IG: instagram.com/manacaster_game And of course, join the Discord server ( ask us how ).

Euro games are the dad jokes of the board game world. Kind of lame but there's always a time and a place for them.
If I see a wargame with a nice, clean, clear map, good artwork and little piles of wooden cubes I am immediately intrigued.
People asking me what I want for Christmas. Answer is simple. Littoral Commander and whiskey.
Yeah I think you need to play about 5+ times to really see all the strategy in most modern games. But few people have the patience for that. So you have to "wow" the player on the first time somehow.
Imagine if chess was released today... "one dimensional", "no replayability", "badly needs an event deck", "if there's one game that absolutely needs more complexity, this is it", "thematically weak" Actually that would be a good parody review video...
Highly recommend this game. I want to get it published:
Supply and Steel is now up on our website (fightclubinternational.org/analogue-games) for FC members along with our other 6 analogue games. The game is also in Tabletop Simulator for those who want to save the printing and cutting. A reminder that membership of Fight Club is totally FREE!
