Sharing this excellent thread. Maybe, one day, this info & pretty clear evidence will reach the right pair of ears.

Science paper shows pregnancy requires 10x more energy than we previously thought. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… How should this impact parental leave policy? 🧵1/n

It’s always seemed odd to me that we literally have a paper *in the AER* showing equal leave policies create gender inequities, yet I have never seen those policies questioned.

Many academic institutions give equal tenure extensions to birthing and nonbirthing parents. This seems odd, not least because research by @JennaEStearns and co suggests that fathers use leave to do more research rather than bond pubs.aeaweb.org/doi/pdfplus/10…

Thanks @CarycruzBueno I’m a big fan of your work also

Story of my life nice to see these amazing economists present the research

In the actual “paper” paper today. Thanks @BostonGlobe for covering my work with @kbuzard7 @OlgaStoddard on how moms get interrupted more than dads and how that affects labor market gender gaps bostonglobe.com/2024/06/18/bus…

What an honor to moderate this conversation with Governor Cook and Vice-Chair Jefferson! BIG thanks to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors for hosting the @AEAMP1 Mentoring Program and AEA Summer Program as we kick off the 2024 @AEAMP1 Summer Mentoring Pipeline Conference!

Listening to Federal Reserve Board Governors Lisa D. Cook and Phillip N. Jefferson, on a panel moderated by @FranciscaAntman for @AEAMP1! (Both Drs. Cook and Antman are alumnae of the AEA Summer Program, which is celebrating 50 years!)

TL;DR: Black peer teachers ⬇️ white teachers’ black student suspensions by 9%. This finding matters given what we know about the #school to #prison pipeline. Read our updated WP! #EconTwitter
