#stampcollecting, and some other stuff. Blocking Nazis, M*G*, RWs, fanatics; and anyone using the words 'wokesters' and 'wokery'

Pinned

#Aliens is mainly about Ripley having to deal with mansplainers. So no wonder she's very pissed off in it.

There's a movie called 'Impromptu' in which Judy Davis played George Sand and looked nothing like this. Hugh Grant was Chopin btw 😄. By the looks of this stamp, Virginia Woolf could've played Sand...

Who is that famous person? Today’s #EngravedBeauty is Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin de Francueil, best known by her pen name George Sand, a French novelist, memoirist and journalist. One of the most popular writers in Europe in her lifetime, she wrote 70 novels and 50 other works.

Ok look I know many ppl have seen this already but. .

I thought this was a deleted Austin Powers scene for minute…

Still sick. And the left arm hurts cos I've been using it despite the trip and fall the other day. Still bruised in a few places and can't be straightened properly but oh well I'm sure it'll sort itself out

Frittered away a lot of time on Tw*tter today. Cos I'm sick. Sore throat, runny nose, fever, blocked aching ears. Some coughers in the office this week. And coworker whose kid has Covid. And coughing ppl on public transport, though I wore facemask. Could've picked it up anywhere

Was in primary school with a kind intelligent girl who was an enthusiastic swearer and a Catholic from an actively religious family. Her gift to the world was that it's possible to be a good person and still drop the F bomb in every sentence

Hmm for some guys this could've been a substitute for running for the Presidency

Any fans of Supremacy? I used to love this one with all the expansions.

Fuminori Nakamura's 'Evil & the Mask'. An 11yo's told by his depraved dad that he's been raised to wreak evil on the world. Real dread and anticipation there. But, uh, nothing much happens when he grows up. Keigo Higashino's 'Journey Under the Midnight Sun' however - super good

'The Hand That Signed the Paper' won a couple of prizes in the mid 1990s incl the Miles Franklin award. But the novel was a sort of hoax. Helen 'Demidenko' aka Helen Darville aka Helen Dale wrote it in her early 20s

2/2...with Lynne Spender's name and Coogee address stamped in the front. And 'The Hand That Signed the Paper' by Helen ''Demidenko'. On the flyleaf Lynne Spender had handwritten her name and the words 'A joke?' 😄 Lynne Spender 1946-2024 #austlit

So, next door to Newtown library is the Women's Library. And outside it is a trolley of unwanted books, $2 each. Mrs Gaskell's 'Life of Charlotte Bronte ' was there... 1/2

This is the problem with the future. In #StarTrek etc military and elite men cannot look sexy by sporting headgear. Rakishly-worn berets etc don't seem to exist

As promised, I'm going to be paying a bit more attention to fashion history going forward, so here is a thread on one of the ways that military and elite men tried to look sexy in the eighteenth century: how they wore their hats. A thread on cocked hats. 🧵1/17

So this is a 1970s vibe...one of em anyway 😄

How to explain the 1970's. Telly Savalas covering Bread in spoken word, with a giant woman's head in the background. 😂
