For #FindsFriday 3 Roman silver denarii of Trajan, Hadrian & Commodus dated AD 112–177. The denarius, equal to 16 asses, was the weekly pay for a Roman auxiliary soldier in the 2nd C. Losing these coins would have been a costly mistake for their owner—but an exciting find for us!

For #FindsFriday a few of the coins from the fabulous Bjerndrup hoard from Jutland (2018), which contained Carolingian coins from Italy, France and Lotharingia, as well as Anglo-Saxon, Arabic and early Danish issues. And in such amazing condition! #Vikings

The #Roman fort at Qasr Bashir, #Jordan, located 15km northwest of Lejjun (📷 taken by me in 2000). An inscription dates the construction of the Castra Praetorium Mobeni to AD 293-305. It was occupied throughout the 4th and into the 5th century. Umayyad pottery...1/2
