Another question from a student that I don't have a good answer for (chatgpt also struggled) - in the genetic code why do some amino acids have only one codon (eg Met, Trp), whereas others get six (eg Ser)?
Why don't we have any postdoc fellowship mechanisms similar to NIH F32/NSERC/Marie Curie/Humboldt in Australia? DECRA and EL-1 are really meant for people who are ready to launch into independence, not for talented people straight out of PhD looking to do their first postdoc.
