Chicken of the Woods fungi/mushroom in our garden near Swanage. Very tasty - had some for my breakfast today fried in some butter. #fungi @DorsetWildlife @SightingDOR @GreenDorset
A friend sent me this photo of a butterfly he saw near Luton asking what it is? I assume it is an escape from a butterfly farm, or someone has bred it and released it into the wild. I think it is Heliconius Charithonia (Zebra Longwing). @savebutterflies @BC_Dorset
It may now be autumn but we still have 6 species of butterfly in our Harman's Cross garden. This Small Copper has been in the garden for at least the last week, and today was posing on our Japanese Anemone. @savebutterflies @DorsetWildlife @SightingDOR @GreenDorset @BC_Dorset

There is nothing like a Small Copper to brighten our garden at Harman's Cross, There were 2 very fresh looking Small Copper today nectaring on our fleabane and sedums. @savebutterflies @DorsetWildlife @SightingDOR @GreenDorset @BC_Dorset
Walking on Holton Heath today near Wareham we saw this Grayling. If I had not seen it fly and then land, I would not have spotted it, as it blended in so well with the path. It is the "The Master of Disguise". @savebutterflies @DorsetWildlife @SightingDOR @GreenDorset @BC_Dorset
Will this be our last Lulworth Skipper sighting at Durlston this year? - just 2 on our transect count. And a Wall Brown in our garden today at Harman's Cross - just the 2nd in our garden this year. @savebutterflies @DurlstonCP @DorsetWildlife @SightingDOR @GreenDorset @BC_Dorset
2 female Common Blue in our garden at Harman's Cross, but of very contrasting colours - one mostly brown, but the other mostly blue. It is quite hard to believe that they are both female of the same species. @savebutterflies @DorsetWildlife @SightingDOR @GreenDorset @BC_Dorset
Mating Brown Argus in our Harman's Cross garden today - the male is on the right. Then each of them after mating - the female has the shorter wider abdomen. @savebutterflies @DorsetWildlife @SightingDOR @GreenDorset @BC_Dorset
