The worms are in TOUCH with their feelings; it’s not just posture-ing!

I'm happy to share our latest work published in Current Biology. We demonstrate that C. elegans males sense cuticular cues and body stiffness to recognize mates. A wonderful journey in collaborations with @wormraiser @Pujol_lab authors.elsevier.com/a/1hW-b3QW8S2R…

Excited to share a view and conceptual framework for achievable time-resolved autonomous adaptive data acquisition for hyperspectral imaging of living biological systems. Huge thanks to my co-authors (Hari, Derek, @BerkeleySynchIR, @wormraiser ) and to @AppliedPhysRev! 🙏

Artificial intelligence-enabled data acquisition can improve hyperspectral imaging and lead to a generalizable approach for studying complex systems. #scilight aippub.org/40pIqsj

Really cool: a high school student sequenced the first angelfish genome! ….and published it in microPublication Biology!@micropub7n newscientist.com/article/234351…

If you've ever used a MOD or even PubMed (so, that means YOU!) please take 5 minutes to tell the NIH why those resources are important surveymonkey.com/r/5NGLNNJ @dictybase @FlyBaseDotOrg @mgi_mouse @ratgenome @reactome @tair_news @ZFINmod @yeastgenome @wormbase @PomBase @fungidb

Show your support for model organism databases by taking a few minutes to fill out this NIH RFI on User Experience with Scientific Data Sources and Tools. Responses are requested by October 15 and could help improve funding for MODs. bit.ly/3trkPrp

Without NIH support ALL model organism databases-a crucial component of biomedical research-are threatened. Make your voice heard: surveymonkey.com/r/5NGLNNJ. Background info @ASCBiology @GeneticsGSA :ascb.org/wp-content/upl…

*ALERT* NIH may be trying to make your favorite model organism database disappear. It is imperative that you respond to the survey link described on this page grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/n… Tell them why they shouldn't kill SGD, flybase, wormbase, ZFIN, etc. Please RT!

Nice photo! My new lab is on the top floor, left wing shared with David Prober’s lab.

Beauty and brains. Literally and figuratively. The bright minds and architecture of Caltech's Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute for Neuroscience building is a truly remarkable feat. 📷: @caltech #visitpasadena #pasadenaca #caltech #architecturephotography

I really miss traveling to give seminars: now, the night before before I give a zoom talk, I sit in a chair in my basement for 4.5 hours with my laptop and some weak coffee | tea and edit my talk. Then I FaceTime with my family from the guest bedroom.

Along with Heidi Goodrich-Blair and @AdlerDillman, we are studying an awesome worm, the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema hermaphroditum. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

The Alliance is where I start when I am curious about any gene, human or from an intensively studied research organism. It just keeps getting better thanks to the dedicated developers and biocurators!

Alliance release 4.1 is live! This release is focused on high-throughput variants and pathways information.

New in this release! We've now got genetic interactions, on Gene Detail pages. You can download the data in this table.
