>be physicist >go to the energy store >ask the cashier if their energy is particle energy or wave energy >she laughs and says "it's good energy sir" >buy energy >take it home >it's both
Unpopular for good reason IMHO.
My unpopular take: air conditioning should be banned at under 30 degrees. Just open the window, wear appropriate clothing and drink water. Ffs.
Interested in #InheritedRetinalDiseases, #nextgenerationphenotyping or #AI approaches to #PP4 for variant prioritisation? Then come and see my talk in PL3.6 #ESHG2023 on @Eye2Gene - a novel approach to phenotype-driven gene prioritisation directly from retinal scans :)…
Not sure which is weirder, the implication that somehow GiveDirectly was Rory's idea, or the notion that a charity that is specifically set up to give money (rather than the more common in-kind support) hasn't thought through the issues associated with that.
"Rory Stewart’s ‘GiveDirectly’ charity defrauded of almost $1m by its own workers "Money started to go missing after the project extended its operations to one of the poorest countries in the world" telegraph.co.uk/global-health/…

Buddy is spending the summer in Europe with his young family. Says he’s ready to live a European lifestyle. He sent me this photo of Southern Spain. So beautiful.
Maybe there is more to this, but on the face of it, seems unbelievably bad bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…
Cheap at twice the price!
Zelensky’s in town. Time for British taxpayers to make another generous contribution.

Nothing quite pits London property into perspective than seeing your property tax band calculation based on a 1991 valuation where the upper band is less than a quarter of what you just paid for it.
Unknown location, the year is 2032 Me: Train on the entire twitter corpus GPT-7: Hmmm strange game this is, it seems like the winning move is not to play *the entire bunker claps*
Looking at the QTs to this and adding "headphone wearers" to my list of people never to piss off on twitter right under "cyclists", and "witches". (Okay, last one is a joke, what they gonna do, hex me?)
Something about massive headphones that go around your head that signal something very individualistic and neoliberal. A clear sign that you don’t wanna chat on the street or the bus. Small earphones less so. Blocking out the world doesn’t make it go away.
New kind of wall anchor fitting just dropped!
New method for protein delivery into human cells from @zhangf lab out @Nature Joseph Kreitz & team show that a bacterial, syringe-like extracellular contractile injection system (eCIS) called PVC can be engineered for protein injection into human cells. nature.com/articles/s4158…
It is rather bizarre that Republic are intent on reminding us about the best (and some would say only) point of having a monarchy, which is to have a good excuse to get drunk and have a bash.
On May 6 Charles will hold a pointless parade designed to shore up his position as unelected head of state. Without any consultation with the people, without a single vote being cast. We say @NotMyKing
