According to regulators, Dominion Energy charged its customers $152.1 million more than authorized by law last year. Virginia lawmakers must reform our policies to stop this continued abuse of customers. #VAleg See the report from @VAStateCorpComm here: scc.virginia.gov/getattachment/…

A round of applause for @VAStateCorpComm! The utility regulator is requiring @DominionEnergy to guarantee performance of its new offshore wind project -- 2nd only to the Vogtle nuclear plant in utility largesse of the modern era & amounting to $21.5B in costs to VA ratepayers 1/n

The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative has already generated more than $220 million to support climate change mitigation projects in Virginia. The law is clear: the governor cannot unilaterally pull out of the program. richmond.com/news/state-and…

@DominionEnergy should refund $312 million to its 2.7 million VA customers, about 22% of the $1.14 billion it reaped in excess profits in four years. Cut rates! So says @VAStateCorpComm staff. Read how the General Assembly has kept you from getting more: wp.me/p1GOqs-kov

With state law spurring the replacement of fossil fuels with renewables, "the massive scale and time horizon for these investments warrants a full analysis that ensures reliable service at a fair price for Virginia ratepayers,” the 18 lawmakers wrote. virginiamercury.com/2021/08/04/law…

Will has the best take on this. Regulated utilities aren't anti-competition because they think the regulated model serves customers best. They are anti-competition because they've rigged the regulated model to serve them.

@vahousegop and @VAHouseDems will campaign claiming they stood up against @DominionEnergy, failing to mention they did it selectively and got played against each other. Today's EV school bus bill vote was a rare consumer win. More at Bacon's Rebellion: wp.me/p1GOqs-ice

“And that’s due to legislation over the last six or seven years ... that’s been drafted by Dominion to serve Dominion’s purposes, rather than having the regulator regulate on a level playing field.” pilotonline.com/opinion/editor…

I’m not anti @DominionEnergy so much as pro rate payer. Dominion deserves a fair profit and Virginians deserve to not get ripped off. Instead, according to the federal government,we have country’s 6th highest electricity bills. pilotonline.com/opinion/editor…

“A new generation of lawmakers have rejected @DominionEnergy’s contributions and sought to expel the company from the political process. They have...sought to establish a regulatory protocol that better serves consumers, not shareholders.” 💯💯💯 pilotonline.com/opinion/editor…

Virginians pay the 6th highest electric bills in the country. With HB 1914's passage from the House, we're one step closer to fairer electric bills for Virginians.

At a time when we know clean, affordable energy is the answer to climate change, Dominion has overcharged customers by over $500 million since 2017, while dragging its feet on adopting clean energy. It doesn’t have to be this way in #VA. selc.link/39FgUiF

Utility rate reform bills clearing the House now, most on a bipartisan basis. Most popular, by votes (64-35), is HB1984 from @SallyLHudson, which would override the complicated statutory rules for rate reviews currently in the code and leave it up to @VAStateCorpComm discretion

The SCC said Monday that while Dominion didn't have much time to work new Virginia Clean Economy Act mandates into its long-range plan, it "cannot conclude" the plan "as filed, is reasonable and in the public interest for purposes of a planning document.” virginiamercury.com/blog-va/regula…

Will Cleveland Reposted

House Labor and Commerce Energy subcommittee reports out @jonesjay HB2200 that would allow the SCC to raise and lower utility rates as needed, as long as utilities are guaranteed cost-recovery and an appropriate rate of return on equity.

HB 1914 is a commonsense measure that will help ensure Virginians are paying fair rates for their electric bills. Glad to move this important bill forward on a bipartisan basis.
