New week, new #RStats blog post! As promised here's the (hopefully) "Comprehensive Guide to Installing R Packages". With 2000+ words this is the longest blog post I've ever wrote. I hope you enjoy it! thomasadventure.blog/posts/install-…

A week ago I had my last at Roche. It felt weird to leave such a great organization after almost 4 years of working their and pushing for the adoption of #opensource and in particular #rstats within the company and beyond. Tomorrow a new chapter starts. I'm excited!!

It was great to have the chance to present on this topic which is dear to my heart 😍

Learning about how #OpenSource collaborations of pharma companies is driving innovation @thomas_neitmann at the Effective Statistician Conference #rstats pharmaverse.org

Great write up 👇

I watched it with great interest: it is truly inspirational. To summarise, I wrote a post on the #opensource transition in #pharma, #publichealth, and the need for more #RSE and statistical capacity building in academia. #rstats @rOpenSci @posit_pbc @Roche andreaczhang.github.io/blog/blog_2023…

It was a great pleasure presenting about our shift towards leveraging #RStats and other open -source technologies for analyzing and reporting our clinical trials!

If you missed the @Roche & @genentech webinar on shifting to #opensource as default for #clinicalworkflows & trials, recording is here: youtube.com/watch?v=nqJsLS… You can see webinar Q/A by going to the last minute in youtube & all the comments will populate to the right! #rstats

Props to everyone at Roche (100+ people) who've made this transition possible. I may be presenting in the webinar (along with 2 of my great colleagues) but I only served my little part in this effort. It definitely takes a village for such a change to materialize. #RStats

Can't wait to share all the great stuff we've been working on to make #RStats our default language for clinical trial data analysis and reporting.

You won't want to miss this. Roche and Genentech - making open source the default in clinical workflows and trials. January 11th, 2023. Add the event to your calendar here: addevent.com/event/ek157233…

Can't wait to kick off 2023 with a #Posit webinar on how Roche is shifting to #RStats as its backbone for analyzing and reporting clinical trials. This has been in the making for 5+ years and we're almost there. Such an exciting time to work in Pharma. Make sure to tune in!

As far as my coding goes, the only advantage of the native pipe is that it renders as a *very* cool triangle. {magrittr} or @posit_pbc people, add a hack to Rstudio to display %>% in a cooler way and I will never ever switch! Please?

I have a confession: it's been a year or so since #RStats version 4.1 has been released and I have yet to use the native pipe operator `|>` 😱

Only 4 days left until it's finally time for my #RStats workshop at @rinpharma! Upon popular demand we increased the maximum number of participants so make sure to sign up and save your place at the event.

1/2 Please join me in the "Clinical Reporting in R" workshop at this year's @rinpharma conference. It's free and virtual so there's no excuse not to show up 😉 The workshop itakes place on Oct 31 & Nov 1 from 10 am to 2 pm EST. 👉 Sign up here: eventbrite.com/e/clinical-rep…

FOURtran 😉

My daughter is 4. What programming language I should teach her?

That feeling when someone else (rther than yourself 😅) writes a blog post about your #RStats package 😍 Thank you very much @sharon000!

Developing {ggtrace} has led me to the most black magic thing I've ever discovered in R: Using `trace()`, you can inject an expression which, when triggered, will "climb up" to the caller frame and evaluate a `return()` statement in there, highjacking its output from the inside!

Thanks for the shout out! A year worth of effort involving more than a dozen individuals from 2 pharma companies jointly working as 1 dev team. Been an awesome experience! One step further along the journey of making #RStats the tool of choice for #datascience in pharma.

Finally had time to create my take on the Starbucks dataset by #TidyTuesday from last year. It's basically a Lollipop chart with a twist. Hope you like it :). Done in #Rstats #ggplot2 and a little #inkscape. #dataviz #Datavisualization #data Code: git.io/J9GMn

It's been ages since I've last wrote my newsletteR. But finally here's the latest edition where I'm looking back at what I spend most of 2021 with: the development of the {admiral} #RStats 📦. Yet another step towards R based clinical trial reporting. buttondown.email/thomasadventur…

TIL: you can install binary #RStats packages on Debian #Linux by running `sudo apt install r-cran-<pkg_name>` in the terminal. Just tried with {tidyverse}. Installing took < 1 min rather than > 10 minutes when installing from source. Awesome!

Join me in exploring how statistical programming powered by #RStats and other open-source tools will look like in 2030 (at least if I have a say😉). youtu.be/N7Bw8c3D5fU
