This is the first week for nearly 8y I haven’t even thought about my case 🎉 And after a friend reminded me I had done nothing wrong, I was cleared & what a good boss I was, I decided to take the plunge & make my community project a CIC. Got myself a little hut premises. 🎉⚖️

My case length was highly unusual but now sadly, 7y is a norm. Question: Why didn’t he come up with this when he was the actual justice head honcho & the crown case backlog was still at a mere 60K? Too little too late. And here we are. Stationary. It is not acceptable. ⚖️

I have the chance to turn my community project into a CIC after 4y of successful volunteering & running it. Just attended a workshop on running a CIC, and when I heard "accountant," my inner sigh was real. It's a big opportunity and decision— not sure if I'm ready yet. 🫤⚖️

4y ago today, first appearance at crown-pleas day. The judge was so very rude to me. So I told him off & said he is supposed to be unbiased & actually he is wrong with his sweeping comments & dirty looks because I was innocent. My counsels face was a picture 😅 ⚖️

I’ve had a lot of DMs the last few days about my official complaint. Thank you for rooting for me, I appreciate it so much. To the one weirdo, no, I am not rich nor friends with my MP. I reached out, told them what happened & they chose to help me. The End. ⚖️

I have now given my consent for my case to be brought to the attention of our Justice Minister. It always astounds me when people are so horrified by my case. It struck me that it was so normalised to me by the end, I don’t think even I realise the enormity most of the time. ⚖️

Got a call from my MPs office - was assured my case has been far from forgotten. Back to the ‘I can’t say yet’ chess game thing in my life but I can say it was both a surprising & very positive call. Truth matters Accountability matters Apology matters That’s justice. ✊🏼⚖️

The CJS is broken. Lack of funding, resources, overcrowded jails, a focus on punishment over rehabilitation & systemic biases led us here. As someone who was innocent but wasted 7y waiting to prove it, I know how hard-hitting these delays are. #JusticeMatters ⚖️

Been quiet this week as I was super busy at work & out doing some grass roots stuff with homeless people. Humbling how community comes together to make things happen. Proud of what we achieved. To be at mental peace, safe & with a roof over your head is such a blessing. ⚖️

Not sure how long is the appropriate time to wait for a reply from an MP, but it’s been 2m so I think I’m going to email now. I left our meeting assured they would be doing something but I’ve seen them busy on the news. Is 8wks an appropriate wait time before a chase up? ⚖️

Today is a full circle kind of day. WFH & thinking to myself as you do. One decade later I have now actually made it to the other side. I’m skint but I’m still standing, still sane & still smiling ⭕️ And for that alone I’m so grateful 🙏🏼 ⚖️

Facebook memories today reflected the day I sacked my old accountant in 2014. It was the day I started to discover his shenanigans. My posts that day ended with me crying into a strawberry daiquiri. Subsequent 10 years of my life lost because of one conman’s actions. Crazy. ⚖️

Today I was home all day. Didn’t speak to a soul except my child. It dawned on me that I am still very happy to be reclusive. People say isolation is bad for your MH, but it actually protects mine. Circle so small it’s a full stop. ⚖️
