Today is a day to give back, not just in action but in gratitude. Together, we’re ensuring that the legacy of those buried within this site lives on for generations! With your support, we were able to put up a road sign and start repairs on broken and fallen headstones.
This Christmas we were able to place bricks on all 244 unmarked graves in TBC and pay memorial to all those interred by placing flowers on all 475+ graves. We truly appreciate all our donors and supporters. Without your help, we could not accomplish our goals.
Join us to place flowers on the graves in Taylor Black Cemetery. All are welcome to join us.

Today we honor those who have served our country, and are interred in Taylor Black Cemetery. Its a time-honored tradition to place American flags on the graves of our fallen soldiers. For those soldiers in unmarked graves, we've placed three flags in the middle of the cemetery.
We're so grateful to all of you who have donated to Taylor Black Cemetery, and we'd like to take a moment to express our gratitude. Today was a very exciting day for us, 2.1 acres surveyed for unmarked graves using ground penetrating radar.
Black cemeteries are a vital part of the American story, but they are in danger. Many of these sites were established before the Civil War and have since been forgotten or abandoned by their communities. cnn.com/2022/11/06/us/…
A great thing about researching family history is that you find things you didn't know before. This article from the 1950's Wilson Daily Times - Colored News, outlines the death of Greene T. Edwards, a WWII veteran who died when he was 24 after being hit by a train.

Taylor Black Cemetery continues to be a place where we can learn about our history. We know only what is written on headstones. This is Sallie Lewis, born 17 May 1897 and died 3 Mar 1964. She was a domestic servant who married Mack Lewis on 23 Jan 1916.
These are passion projects. No one is making money, only trying to discover our black history and share the culture with others. nytimes.com/2022/10/15/us/…
The history of those interred in Taylor cemetery is rooted in farming. They lived and died in the area, as did their fathers, mothers, and grandparents before them. We take pride in honoring the memory of our loved ones for their strength, resilience, and courage to survive.
Descendants and volunteers across the country are fighting to preserve Black burial sites, which had been neglected or destroyed by development. Protecting them is made even more difficult by the fact that many cemeteries are located on private land. npr.org/2022/10/03/111…
