I'm never going back to Facebook, so here's other places you can find me: Gamedev toots: mastodon.gamedev.place/@sinbad Code: github.com/sinbad Blog (with feed): stevestreeting.com Apols for any repetition of this, but you never know when the plug will be yanked 🤷‍♂️

Possibly the best thing I’ve read about the death of Twitter. He’s right, it’s been dying for a while, but we tolerated it because of what it used to be. EM has done us all a favour really by making the realisation easier by more people at once pwnallthethings.com/p/twitter-was-…

I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?" As an SRE and sysadmin with 10+ years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.

Gotta laugh at all the people acting all surprised that another big crapto company went titsup and all the money disappeared. If you couldn’t see this coming a mile off, you weren’t paying attention, it’s not like smarter people weren’t telling you

Twitter is no longer fulfilling key obligations required for it to claim Ireland as its so-called main establishment under the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a source familiar with the matter has told TechCrunch. techcrunch.com/2022/11/14/is-…

Breaking my blogging vacation to talk about FTX, the cosmic-level hubris of Effective Altruism, and why this inevitable collapse has sealed the fate of crypto for good. FTX: Greed, Grift, and Grandiosity stephendiehl.com/blog/ftx.html

Another thing that’s better on Mastodon - when people post little animated snippets of their games, the first few seconds aren’t totally butchered by compression like they are here

If you want my “good” content these days head to mastodon.gamedev.place/@sinbad I only come here to shitpost now, it’s all the new owner deserves 😛

The tech industry is powered mostly by people you never hear about. They’ll carry on doing their thing long after the idiot showmen that even bigger idiots lionise have had their day in the sun. They’ll quietly make things that sometimes put dents of varying size in the universe

I haven't fully formulated this thought because I'm ripping mad, but all this week I've been unable to stop thinking of the 5 years I worked at TED Talks and how the wealthiest members of this society pump up the egos of men like Elon Musk and empower them to wreak havoc.

the theme of 2022 so far is that billionaries are just idiots who got lucky

With Mastodon, you don't need to pay 8 dollars a month to see half the ads. Because we don't allow them. At all. 🤯 joinmastodon.org
