Truly just an awful pattern going forward into the first half of November. A ridge will dominate leaving us with low if any rain chances & warmer than average temperatures in the East. Say what you want, but this will likely be what we deal with most of the Winter also. Fall…

Because I feel like it.

Any (good) explanations for this 6040 m ridge setting up shop off the East Coast into the weekend? By far a record strong "heat dome" BUT over the ocean.

Go away, @southeast_ridge, maybe stop in again in February when someone around here might actually want to see you.

Do you like your 4th of July hot?

I heard Buffalo was lovely this time of year, oops

A "mega heat dome" is forecast to develop over the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast into next week. The ridge will be at near historical intensity centered upon Pennsylvania w/500 mb heights > 6000 m

AIFS is only .2dm away from 600dm ridge. We'd certainly be looking at record high 500dm ridge near the area if AIFS, GFS-like ridge were to happen, very impressive stuff.

Don’t you dare talk about @Death_Ridge like that.

Looking forward to your return, buddy. Getting bored of Mexico? @Death_Ridge

And to think, this could have all been avoided if you just did your one job, ridge.

So like, we’re really gonna do another Saturday like that again huh? Cool cool cool…. This year sucks.

Nice job @Death_Ridge, out here breaking hearts 🥰

When I forget how to do my job 🤷‍♀️

This post is unavailable.

Think I’m going to sit the rest of this month out 👋

How you like dat? @Death_Ridge

Hottest spots in USA today: 97F Rio Grande TX and ... 96F Hartford AP CT. This ties the highest temperature ever recorded in April in the State of Connecticut. Dozens more stations set a record for the first half with up to 94F in PA,93F in MA and NJ and 92F in NY,NH and RI.

For the nerds. The average 500 mb geopotential height for March was the lowest on record (1940-present) across much of the Pacific Northwest.

Endless winter in the West. SE ridge tries to fight back in the East through early April.

The word for the month of February is: Wishcasting.

You’re welcome.

Ignoring other variables, this is a very powerful and compact vort max at 500 mb emerging into the S Plains on Sunday, reminiscent of 12/15/2021. Assuming sufficient moisture return, I'd be pretty weary of what magnitude of severe weather that will result from this.
