So true...the church remains to continue being salt and light!
Rulers of nations have come and gone for 2000 years but the church remains. We did not know all that would befall us 4 years ago nor do we know the times ahead. But the task of the church remains unchanged: to know Christ & make him known. To be salt & light in this time & place.
On this MLK Day it’s important as the church to listen to the words of Dr. King and decide if we will be the Confessing Church that speaks for justice and acts in love OR the Complicit Church that seeks after power and influence no matter what. But let’s not fool ourselves!

There is power in our children watching us practice self-kindness vs. berating ourselves or putting ourselves down when we stumble, fail, or make mistakes. No matter how we encourage them to talk to themselves, they are definitely watching to see what really matters.

One of the biggest obstacles to Christ is Christians. Too often Christians act very unlike our Christ. We are better at worshipping Jesus than we are at following him. In the end, they will not know that we are Christians by our bumper stickers & t-shirts... but by our love.

As the RNC was saying how “pro-life” he is, Trump was killing a man in Indiana. And he has another execution set for Friday. There’s nothing “pro-life” about the death penalty. We don’t rape to show that rape is wrong. It’s time to stop killing to show that killing is wrong.
Today a friend reminded me that, “Everyone is in their own tough boat in this storm. Now, we have to just not focus on the storm but care for those in the boats.”
