Hold your children close. Pray a prayer of thanks they’re not in threat of being stolen from the government & sent to imprisoned houses of horrors. That u can mold them, hold them & raise them in their 1st language & culture in love. Pray 4 the ones who never had the chance 🧡

When groups meet to brainstorm, good ideas are lost. People bite their tongues due to conformity pressure, noise, and ego threat. A better approach is brainwriting: generate ideas separately, then meet to assess and refine. Group wisdom begins with individual creativity.

Great day of #enhancementgrant learning with Dr.@sosopolitical and @Jselzer107 on secondary #authenticassessment. What is "competency"? How can we create multi-pronged opportunities for sts to address real-world problems? What might this look like in different fields? #westvaned

A little more info re the grad change. Students would take 4 credits in one of the following. The provincial courses also statisfy other grad requirements in ELA/SS so this wouldn't mean reduction in # of electives unless students choose to take the requirement as an elective.

This break has been a heavy one for so many of us. Reminder that instead of asking kids, "How was your break?" or "What did you do over break?" It can be gentler to simply say, "I've missed you. I am so glad to see you. Is there anything you want me to know?"

I don't care how many PhDs you have, if you haven't taught a reasonably full timetable in a primary or secondary school for at least a couple of years, you cannot claim to be an expert in primary or secondary education.

I am extremely concerned about the pace at which we are still trying to get back to normal in schools. We are in crisis. We still can't breathe. And resilience nor 5min check ins will address this. Healing can't be rushed. We need to truly listen, pause and regroup. @ShaneSafir
