all we imagine as light disrupts the genre of films that are love letters to the city lol, it is supposed to undercut the bourgeois nostalgia and romanticism of the city while etching space in the nucleus for the stories, love and tenderness of bombay’s migrants

For Bombay city-films, watch smth like Mani Kaul’s Arrival, Satya or John and Jane. For mallu films that deal with the ebb and flow of relationships against a history of the city/locality, Annayum Rasoolum or Maheshinte Prathikaram

To learn, then to get to competence, and then to a kind of excellence requires years, even decades of execution, patience, and resilience, things that aren't social media-cool. So it's not surprising that suddenly, experience and craft have become invaluable at the workplace.

my millennial peers are so triggered by genz likely because genz dares to make choices we were too afraid to make. in its own quiet way, this generation's collective ethos is perhaps the antidote to the unmitigated mindless capitalism many of us unquestioningly accepted

the best kind of writing is one that says what has till the moment been unsayable, it puts words to what has till then only been felt and experienced silently —@saumyakedia1’s writing is stunning and important in every sense of the word.

Soooo an essay derived from my undergraduate thesis is out @scroll_in 😭 Nobel laureate Han Kang’s ‘The Vegetarian’ offers us a new vocabulary on illness and sickness. Feels so surreal. Please do read it, share it widely, and DM me your thoughts :) scroll.in/article/107481…

Find your people. Find allies. Don't worry too much about losing friends over politics. There are loads of people out there who are decent and friends can be made at any age, any place. I say this from experience. Strong bonds come from trust & integrity, not from shared pasts
