I appreciate that I'm prolific today re assisted suicide. (By the weekend, I'll be asleep and / or watching Christmas movies. Or horror films...) But here's something I wrote for @guardian that might help some disabled people's fears for changing the law theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
My amazing friend Caroline Batten has finished a Cambridge Element on “Health and the Body in Early Medieval England” which is OPEN ACCESS from 26th November 2024 - 24th December 2024! #medievaltwitter cambridge.org/core/elements/…
It's ironic to see Brexiteers now calling for a general election. What happened to "respecting the will of the people"? We just had one. Like it or not, this government was elected fairly. You can't demand democracy only when it suits you.
Because children can be #FrockingFabulous too! This ‘Dainty Blossom’ hand-painted silk ensemble is by Daisy Stanford, c.1925. Via FIDM.
You do realize how firefighters being unable to extricate a victim is a bad thing, right?
Firefighters training on Cybertruck's windows. Took 3 swings for the first crack to form, and 12+ to actually break through. Perfect car for the apocalypse, no Zombie is breaking in 🧟♂️
Reading is not a privilege. Literacy is as important as food and water. Even countries who have been scorned as supposed “third world” have exceptionally high literacy rates because they know that no matter how poor a person is, you have a right to be educated.
Y'all aren't gonna like me, but reading is a privilege. You need free time, the education, the ability, access to books, etc. But we should be helping each other access books however we can and sharing info and stories in a number of mediums.
i’m not being dramatic when i say this movie completely changed the way i look at life

Devastating news this morning for women, for immigrants, for science, for love. Hate, misinformation, misogyny, and lies have won. The US holds no longer the American dream for me. 😢
The tier to which all community notes aspire.
The Guardian view on inequality in the UK: what kids can teach us theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
The 5 craziest things said by Conservative Party leadership candidates. Which one is your favourite?
No words…utter and complete shock and 💔 #michaeladeprince
Devastating news😭 Sierra Leonean-American ballerina Michaela Mabinty DePrince has passed away. The news of her passing was announced on her official instagram page. No cause of death was given. She was 29. switsalone.com/50055_sierra-l…
As someone obsessed with ballet I've been reading Hope in a Ballet Shoe with my year 9s in the morning and they've been really enjoying it, absolutely devastated to find out #MichaelaDePrince has passed away
we should put air purifiers in literally every building
Air purifiers in Finnish daycare reduced children's illnesses by 18% in a carefully controlled study. This implies huge potential for better public health and cost savings from sick leaves, with a simple intervention against airborne infections. yle.fi/a/74-20089670
