I don't want to say "I told you so", but I told you so. Repeatedly. I was heavily criticized for it. Mocked, even.

People have been rewriting history and saying that "everyone has always believed that LLMs alone wouldn't be AGI and that extensive scaffolding around them would be necessary". No, throughout most of 2023 (the "sparks of AGI" era) the mainstream bay area belief was that LLMs were…

Congrats to the new Noble Prize honorees, and a thoughtful post on what's coming down the pike.

Winning the @NobelPrize is the honour of a lifetime and the realisation of a lifelong dream - it still hasn’t really sunk in yet. With AlphaFold2 we cracked the 50-year grand challenge of protein structure prediction: predicting the 3D structure of a protein purely from its…

The key to understanding AI is remembering it's built on ML, which is based on stats. OpenAI's exploration of neural scaling laws shows model error scales with compute, model size, and data—but the why could be key next-gen AI models. More here: linkedin.com/posts/sajidsad…

Another great model from Meta, focused on video generation and editing. Looks like the SotA just moved forward one more step!

Meet Molmo: a family of open, state-of-the-art multimodal AI models. Our best model outperforms proprietary systems, using 1000x less data. Molmo doesn't just understand multimodal data—it acts on it, enabling rich interactions in both the physical and virtual worlds. Try it…

Every frame is amazingly realistic (kudos!), and yet the video is creepy if you stare. Why? Because videos also require behavior models, not just flow models. Humans are more sensitive to human behavior though, so here we see it easily.

It’s crazy how #kling_ai version 1.5 totally changes the game. The text-to-video results are mind-blowing, a total game-changer! 😱🎥 Who’s tried it yet? A mother gently cradles her newborn baby. The camera slowly moves in, focusing on her peaceful expression as she looks down…

Runways's Gen3 is a great example if merging creative and human talent in a way that improves the results of both. Of course, there are still some soft spots, but it's a great step!

Honestly, I don’t think people fully realize the power and potential of Gen3’s video-to-video feature. The craziest part? Gen3 is still in alpha! 😱 The results are already mind-blowing, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. This is just the beginning! 🔥

Something I taught 12 yo: There's a second component of reading that many people don't realize exists: searching for the good books. There are a huge number of books and only a small percentage of them are really good, so reading means searching.
