I’d like to remind people that researchers can make their work available on open access by sharing preprints, making their datasets openly available and depositing AAMs in repositories. Gold paid-for OA should not be our only focus #odcnov19

Well, it's getting real. As I head into my 40th year in the #library profession I'm planning to step down from my Director role @imperialcollege @imperiallibrary at the end of Jan 2025. This, therefore, is a very personal #JobKlaxon andersonquigley.com/job/aq2665/

ITHAKA report just cited in panel: 'The Second Digital Transformation of Scholarly Publishing', sr.ithaka.org/publications/t… from earlier this year #UKSG2024

POSI principles - Principles of Open Scholarly Infrastructure - being discussed by panel, all are engaging with and wanting to adopt (hope I've represented positions correctly!) openscholarlyinfrastructure.org #UKSG2024

Great to see @thinkchecksub initiative represented on this panel. Important point from Katherine about how blacklists/whitelists of journals & publishers remove checks, due diligence and transparency about who creates the lists. #UKSG2024

Have been chatting to @DOAJplus team at UKSG and genuinely didn't know how much work they all do from all around the world and receiving 1000s of applications a year. #UKSG2024

Packed room at #UKSG2024 breakout session on impact of block grants on transformative agreement future. I imagine all sessions on that topic will be packed... @KatherineAnneH

In breakout session on society publishing #UKSG2024. Missed the QR code for the preprint but thanks for the bitly link on the slides @rschrobUK zenodo.org/records/109331…

Ivan Oransky @RetractionWatch @ivanoransky making point that upstream of increase in retractions, paper mills and poor practice is the 'value' of citations in rankings #UKSG2024

Ruth Harrison Reposted

@ivanoransky⁩ highlights the massive growth in retractions in recent years. It’s a well known issue, but still unsettling to see just how quickly the numbers have risen #UKSG2024

First shout-out for #metadata at #UKSG2024 from Daniel Hook (Digital Science) speaking about research integrity & trust. Creating good quality data & metadata that help to detect & understand research behaviours is critical to keeping the research system healthy #MetadataMatters

Daniel Hook making the very good point that annual publication volume is vast, challenging trust in research practice and ability of infrastructure to cope. I would dearly love to see less publishing, but more high quality and investment in review, reproducibility... #UKSG2024

11th or 12th #uksg2024 this year! So much has happened in #openaccess... very much wanting to talk about #OpenResearch now. Trying out the blue thing @ruthejh.bsky.social and will likely get very confused in the next couple of days.

Been hunting around for the citation in this slide, and it's a book, bloomsbury.com/uk/97814408743… but there is a recent article (OA) at doi.org/10.1007/s40979… that I shall try to find the time to read... #UKSGNov23

Day two of #UKSGNov23: @debosk kicks off with a more positive look at how AI will impact research through @DrSarahEaton's concept of postplagiarism
