Before we solve this, most of the funding in AI will go elsewhere. And, as a consequence, AI will not reach the potential it has for humanity. Lose-lose. This is the real crisis of HCI. We don't need theories, we need theories that help design better AI for human use.

In space, no one can hear you scream.

There are several noises I'd prefer not to hear inside my spaceship, including this one that @Boeing Starliner is now making.

I'm sort of curious how the crowd at #CHI2024 are discussing the openai announcement. Both in relation to HCI in general, but also in relation to the keynote that I believe is ongoing and talking about GenAI.

In The Anxious Child, @JonHaidt suggests that: “There was little sign of an impending mental illness crisis among adolescents in the 2000s. Then, quite suddenly, in the early 2010s, things changed.” However, in my view, CDC data tells a different story. 🧵 #MentalHealthcrisis

Fun podcast episode touching upon some “controversial” points: 1. The frustration with smart city research 2. Shall #FAccT and Human-centered AI minds align? 3. Why it may be a good idea to toss Model Cards 4. Explaining AI isn't always good AI. #ResponsibleAI #HCAI

A few weeks ago, @rrostt and I had a great discussion about #ResponsibleAI and #UrbanInformatics with @danielequercia in our Podcast on #HumanCenteredArtificialIntelligence. The episode is available below #ArtificialIntelligence #hcai hcai.se/podcast/24-02-…

Gemini 1.5 Pro's 1,000,000+ token context length is incredible. I got early access and spent my Saturday night running tests. Here are 6 impressive capabilities I found:
