Still one of my favorite books, from two of 2024 Econ Nobel Laureates. Very useful model to explain democratization (or for that matter, pro-majority social changes) and its consolidation.

Indonesia hari ini kehilangan salah satu ekonom terhebatnya, yang selama ini telah memberikan kontribusi luar biasa bagi kemajuan dan keadilan di tanah air. Selamat jalan Pak Faisal. Tentram dan damai, di sana. 🖤 #LPEMFEBUI #faisalbasri #innalillahi

An excellent list of recommended books for Indonesian students. Those for the high schoolers are especially of a very high quality. Also, I’ve never imagined that the govt recommend the junior high schoolers to read Student Hidjo! Kudos to the curators!

RIP Prof. Robert Solow. One of my favorite economists — also one of the funniest. Solow growth model, I think, is still the most useful basic model to think about long run economic growth.

RIP. Bob Solow an absolute giant in Economics, has passed away at age 99. Tremendously influential in the profession and one of the key founders of the MIT Economics department as we live it today. Will be sorely missed.

Life of Robert Solow, one of my favorite economists. 98 years old but still very sharp and with, as Prof. Ashenfelter said, a fantastic sense of humor | @acopatunru

We don't like to play favorites, but this episode of "The Work Goes On" deserves our attention. The infamous Robert Solow joins the podcast to discuss enlisting in the Army, where he gets his sense of humor, and what makes great research possible. bit.ly/3IZOH6o

I wonder: “Who is this brilliant Gadjah Mada student asking Joan Didion this question in 1980?” — From Didion’s Pulitzer-winning The Year of Magical Thinking.

RIP Martin Ravallion. I learn a lot from reading his work on poverty —very important contribution to understand development and developing economies. Sad news.

So sad to hear of the tragic loss of ⁦@MartinRavallion⁩ — pioneering poverty researcher, one of the most influential economists of the ⁦@WorldBank⁩, and a respected ⁦@Georgetown⁩ professor. His contribution to our understanding of development was truly enormous.
