On 13th birthday besides present got given a pair of work boots and overalls to be told no more pocket money and if you want to have money in your pocket you start working at your dad's drainage firm Saturday mornings and school holidays 🙈🤮💩
On the other side of this I’ve employed schoolboys/girls in such jobs.......One is now a bomb disposal expert, a city lawyer, a Daily Telegraph named Top 100 IT consultant ,a midwife and 3 others are business owners All worked for around £2/3 a hour And the work hindered none
Paper round every day and up early on Sundays for morning papers. £5.50 per week, felt like a fortune! Hated the smell of the bag though 😂
Saturday and sunday @RayGrahamsLtd awesome place to learn about hardwork in a great family run business.
Also started at 13, 3 hours a week in a local supermarket for £3 p/hour. Owner used to text me before each shift to remind me to bring a £1 coin as 'change' from the tenner he would give me...
I helped my dad swipe (clean) the greens at Castlerock Golf Club. Basically getting rid of debris from the bunkers and the like. Also changing the flag position. 5.30 start in the summer finished by 08.30 and huge Ulster Fry waiting when we got home.
School cleaner. 5 classrooms every week night after school, through my teenage years. Part-time work in a second hand record store at weekends... which is where most of the cleaning money ended up.
Delivering lemonade and delivering the Newsletter. Kept me busy and out of trouble.
