Rap is missing superb cadence and raw instrumental tracking…. The rappers who sample great music and/or use RAW instrumental tracking + lines that the greats will nod at or have already said, sell out shows…
R&b is missing “gospel” vocal feel. Most these singers mainstream didn’t study it… so they lack that vocal ability, harmonization AND emotion.
If you ask me what’s missing in new music, imma tell you “old shit”.
