Most people whom I'd consider knowledgeable followed the same path: 0. Learn about the system on your own 1. Try to improve it in creative ways 2. Talk to others that did the same 3. Go back to 1. Books are great, but figuring things out on your own creates a unique perspective.

"PoS uses less energy!" Yes, obviously. But nations don't protect themselves only with agreements, do they? They all have a plan involving physical security (weapons/army). I think it's very likely that we'll have chains running on agreements and work. Because both can be useful
This isn't a statement about relationships. This is one more data point for why IQ is a totally useless measure. People think in different ways. In relationships, people are often attracted to others who think differently, often in complementary ways. I know I am.
If you ask people to guess what their IQs are, they tend to give estimates that are about 30 points too high. That might sound bad, but it gets worse: they overestimate their partner's IQ even more dramatically.
Nakamoto coefficient is not a very good metric. It can tell something isn't decentralized *at this point in time* but it can never tell if something is decentralized because you can "sybil attack" it. Similarly, it says nothing about who can be the validator i.e. can you be?
