Hugely encouraging to see the Gambling Regulation Bill pass through the Oireachtas last night. @JamesBrowneTD has said at its core the legislation is a public health measure to protect citizens from #gamblingharm incl. young and vulnerable people.

I felt it was important to raise the serious issues of gambling harm the UK faces with @lisanandy our @DCMS Secretary of State this morning in @HouseofCommons and ask her to look for solutions!

Thank you @Jim4Dartford for raising this critical issue in Parliament today. An independently administered statutory levy would save lives. #StopGamblingSuicides

👏 Well said Pope Francis: 'It makes me sad to see soccer games and sports stars promoting gambling platforms. That's not gambling. It is an addiction. It's putting your hand in the pocket of the people, especially the workers and the poor.' romereports.com/en/2024/09/20/…

Great to be joined by so many MPs and Peers today at a Gambling Reform Parliamentary Drop-In. Encouraging to hear so many parliamentarians stress the need for urgent action from @DCMS to prevent and tackle gambling related harm.

🗣️ "Do you agree that the gambling industry is pernicious given that it targets young people through sport?" Great question from @JohnSlinger on the @RestIsPolitics – & a strong answer from @campbellclaret: "They know they're getting people into gambling & it's addictive"
