Lucky’s lips parted into a knowing, ironic smile. “On the down low, money, I guess nowadays, even good kids carry guns.” Yeah, Momma, your 16 year-old son, a ‘good kid’ is buying a gun. I am leaving my journal for you, in case I don’t live to tell my story. Here is the prologue:


I remember the day so vividly, as a young teenager in Brooklyn. Around 6:20PM the word flew around the neighborhood that MLK had been shot and it set a series of events in motion that we are still trying to recover from. April 4th, 1968.
