Being a reporter, I never wanted to make myself the story. But this time, I thought there’s more at stake than myself. I think about the community I represent, and who might find the governor’s comment hurtful. A thread:

Reporter Yanqi Xu did some good journalism. Rather than respond to her findings, Jim Pillen went on the radio and said that her work wasn't worth reading because of where she came from. How embarrassing. Infuriating. Sad. My column: flatwaterfreepress.org/governors-comm…

Admissions season brings admissions tall tales. Thanks for fact-checking, @nhannahjones Let’s be real about who our educational system favors.

This fantastic piece will shift everything you think about adoption. Congrats to @hyeonbrooks and the excellent @prismreports, from a fan of both.

Part 2 of @prismreports' Adoptees Disrupting Adoption Narratives is here! It's from @hyeonbrooks, who is the reason this series exists. Here, Tiffany talks about her reproductive justice journey & taking an abolition approach to the modern adoption system: prismreports.org/2022/11/29/rep…

For every open seat at a school like Harvard or UNC, there are literally thousands of qualified people. No one is owed that seat. Colleges select not by lining up all the highest test scores and GPAs, but by looking at any number of factors. I know. I once worked in admissions.

To our point in @Slate, Blum’s lone-wolf image is cultivated. EVERYONE else walks out of court with their posse. Blum was alone. #DefendDiversity @AAPolicyForum @NAACP_LDF @harvarddiverse

As the affirmative action case reaches the Supreme Court, @AAPolicyForum's Kristin Penner & I push back hard on the false lone-wolf narrative around conservative activist Ed Blum #defenddiversity @harvarddiverse @NAACP_LDF h/t @James_S_Murphy slate.com/news-and-polit…

More truth from @James_S_Murphy

Just today a reporter asked me about Blum's "success." I pointed out that he's mostly failed with all these cases (and everything else he's done). If SFFA wins with these cases, it will have little to do with him and much more to do with rich donors and Mitch McConnell.

Thank you @Sally_Chenpion for this powerful, personal take on why affirmative action benefits us all. See you at the Supreme Court! @harvarddiverse @Harvard4A

it's finally out! it always feels really vulnerable to share a personal story, but I hope it gives folks an insight to why I'm still in this fight. #DefendDiversity @latimes @CAAsanfrancisco latimes.com/opinion/story/…

#FreeCholSooLee in theaters tonight! It’s a searing reminder of the racist inequity of our justice system and an uplifting portrait of our Asian American community—rising in panethnic resistance over half a decade before the killing of Vincent Chin! @TheyCallUsBruce eps incoming!

One of the year's best docs, 'Free Chol Soo Lee,' is screening tonight nationwide for one night only. Read @FinkJohnJ's review: bit.ly/3nZQnDh See all locations: mubi.com/freecholsoolee

Did I just hear Rep. Roy say in a hearing about violence against Asian Americans, as he goes on to question the premise of the hearings (not exact words, but close): We understand justice in Texas. We have a saying: Round up all your rope and find the tallest oak tree.

Please read the thread, friends. Thanks, @nhannahjones

Last night's shooting & the appalling rise of anti-Asian violence stem frm a sick society where nationalism has again been stoked & normalized. Anti-Black & anti-Asian racism & violence run in tandem in the U.S. Both grps were brought here for labor but never meant to be citizens

Saw my child marking their ballot, voting the @WorkingFamilies Party line. Me: “Did I tell you to do that?” Child: “No, @AOC said to on @Twitch” Ha. @RepAOC, it worked!
