There is no rational explanation to have children. I’m serious: they are expensive, life-altering, they scream for years and will ruin every expensive thing you own. It’s only after you become a parent that it all starts making sense. The power of love you will experience is…

Why did past societies build so much "useless" beauty everywhere — and why did we stop? It might be a measure of a culture's health... (thread) 🧵

This! I've always been drawn to 'things of the past'. This puts it all in perspective. The concepts of "skin in the game" or "love for the art" have almost disappeared.

John Ruskin's first principle of architecture has the answer: sacrifice. Things should be costly (either in materials or the effort we put in) because it proves love and sacrifice went into it — for the benefit of all.

Exactly that! Every org has redundancies to mitigate disruptions in their software supply chain. (i.e. phased patching) "Someone" decided they were redundant enough. Now "someone" has hopefully learned "something".

Yes, someone who knows from the inside. Single point of failure vs Redundancies. "Someone" disabled the Redundancies. Hence, the System fell prey of single point of failure.

Today's the day: Writebook is here! And it's free. once.com/writebook Blogging and posting on social is easy. But why is it so hard to publish a whole book on the web? It’s not anymore. Writebook is remarkably simple software that allows you to publish text and pictures in…

The reason IT support people are so bitter is that YOU (I mean YOU) cannot rationally describe the problem: You: The Internet is down IT: How do you know the Internet is down? You: I can't get email. IT: Is it possible that the email servers are down and the Internet is working…

It’s only a matter of time before larger companies start to offer wide toe box/zero alternatives There’s no stopping the wave Once players experience the benefits, there’s no turning back This is huge

🚨 @XeroShoes and @JustHolla7 brought barefoot shoes to professional basketball. On May 14th, Holiday became the first player to wear barefoot shoes in an NBA game. "These barefoot shoes make me feel better when pivoting, cutting, and jumping because I'm closer to the court."
