This is very wrong. I can't believe you read the Review. It documents in detail the repeated failures of the current Board. How can part-time amateurs be expected to make better decisions than experts?
"Our results reveal that whenever handwriting movements are included as a learning strategy, more of the brain gets stimulated, resulting in the formation of more complex neural network connectivity...typewriting do[es] not activate...networks the same way that handwriting does."
Huge new result: Anti-racism trainings probably lead people to accuse others of racism even when they're not racist. That's exactly the result of a new study on DEI trainings, with a special focus on the impacts of the works of Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo. Let's dig in🧵
Fewer users but in many cases a more effective way of driving engagement to high quality links.
DJIs latest official drone commercial features Sri Lanka & does a better job portraying the culture and natural beauty in 3 minutes than Nas Daily did in 3 full videos. Hope the SLTDA takes note & invests in more creative efforts like this and less cringeworthy bs in future.
My earnest request is for President @anuradisanayake to initiate a committee to pragmatically look into the excess number of holidays in Sri Lanka. With the kind of mandate that NPP got they can easily make some rational arguments as to why we need to reconsider these holidays.
Would be fascinating to see a survey like this done in Sri Lanka on questions that are relevant to the local public discourse. Maybe identify several opportunities for tackling misconceptions.
Americans think 26% of US households make over $500K/year (it's actually 1%). Not coincidentally, young Americans now believe $500K is the benchmark for financial success. A recipe for immense anger and grievance. This 11-year-old post still good as new: waitbutwhy.com/2013/09/why-ge…

I just read the paper in full; it is even more spectacular than I initially thought. A short thread about the results and their significance.
This is the best paper written so far about the impact of AI on scientific discovery
1⃣🚗💡 The top 30% of non-poor households in Sri Lanka use 70% of the country’s fuel. Why? They have personal vehicles, high-energy appliances, and overall higher consumption. So who benefits most from fuel subsidies? Mostly, those who can afford it

Side note on frozen produce: The post above is about fresh produce only. A potentially appealing alternative may be buying frozen produce, which on average has equal or higher nutritional content than fresh. This is because frozen produce is picked at peak ripeness then frozen…
You don’t have community because you aren’t a good community member. You don’t host events, you don’t know how to cook, you don’t know how to dance, you don’t know how to sing, and you aren’t doing anything to learn. You can’t tell stories or jokes.

Live-tweeting @karthik_econ's presentation on state capacity at NEUDC. Simple story of India's economy: - Top 10% drives demand and growth - Next 30-40% in service sector jobs supporting the top 10% - remaining 50% left out, supported by welfare programs Seems suboptimal 1/n
Just finished Bob Woodward's "War". A few takeaways. Biden and Harris detest Netanyahu and privately tried to discourage him from attacking Gaza, but Netanyahu received encouragement to "destroy Hamas" from the Jordanians, UAE, Saudis and Egyptians.
