Between 2010 and 2020, 40% of all gas discovered worldwide was discovered in Africa. 84% of pre-production reserves covered in GOGET are located in countries that haven't been large producers of gas.

📈 A seismic shift is on the horizon for #gas extraction in #Africa, with many of the new pre-production fields proposed in countries that historically have not exploited #fossilfuels

🇨🇳 - China is by far largest buyer of Africa’s mining output • In 2020 China bought 43% of Africa’s minerals exports and 32% of region’s ores and metals exports • Chinese demand for these materials will continue to increase in coming ten years, fuelling investments

In 2014, PresXi first proposed that the two powers should build a new model of major-country relation defined by “no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation,” an idea that Obama temporarily welcomed and even Trump briefly entertained

a new engagement consensus would not view China as the “other” that must be transformed, integrated, and led into a U.S.-dominated order, thus rectifying a key fallacy of the old consensus.

So what does Turkey’s S-400 purchase mean to NATO members? As one scholar remarked, “It’s a political statement that the U.S. doesn’t have hegemony and control over NATO members and particularly over Turkey.”

What Turkey’s purchase of a Russian air defense system means for the U.S. and #NATO. @jsspindel explains. @BtGProjectDC washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/…

An energy transition away from fossil fuels implies a huge increase in demand for materials including copper, lithium and cobalt. The US is leading an international initiative to encourage private sector investment to produce those resources. ft.com/content/4863ff…

The US is continuing its diplomatic push on #LNG exports. But it’s clear that pricing is the biggest factor in deciding where LNG flows and in what volumes, not the will of politicians. More from Siobhan Hall: plts.co/LK5150uwZpK #ONGT #natgas
