A lot of crypto people believe they have the right to avoid North Korean sanctions or engage in money laundering or Ponzi scheming while getting bailed out if there are problems. They will probably win that political fight now, but in 2020 that stuff was actually still illegal.
Obviously, this is highly unrepresentative of the US. But it’s a reminder that we have social democracy funded through property taxes in affluent suburbs. They have universal social services on a far more egalitarian basis.
