Although this could be a Ballmer iPhone moment, you can't deny Zucks unwavering enthusiasm for VR. He's right on almost all points too, but Meta not having a library of Android apps for productivity is a weak spot.

The Zuck firing shots 🔫

Thinking of VR headsets in terms of home computers. Where do you think we are today? The early Oculus headsets were the Apple IIs, Commodore 64s and BBCs. Quest 3 feels like an Amiga and the Vision Pro an early 386. The Amiga was cheaper and more fun at the time, but we're not…

Ironically, Google Cardboard, and all the "strap your phone to the front" junk was the worst possible introduction to VR that you could give anyone. Standalone VR became synonymous with "awful" and that wasn't fixed until the Oculus Go almost 3 years later.

I created the Google Cardboard almost ten years ago but quit VR soon after to focus on Machine Learning. VR is based on a ridiculous misunderstanding. Let me explain why in this thread.

One of the few times I have to disagree with John. I actually think "big virtual screens wherever you want in your home or office" is an amazing use case that has massively broad appeal. Passthrough MR is going to do that better than AR for some time to come.

I remain unconvinced that mixed reality applications are any kind of an engine for increasing headset sales. High quality pass through is great, but I just don’t see applications built around integrating rendering with your real world environment as any kind of a killer app. I…

Given the spec of the #Quest3, the Quest Pro was such a strange release from Meta ❌Last gen processor at launch ❌No better resolution than the Quest 2 ❌Bad MR due to mono high res colour camera ❌Depth sensor removed at the last minute But Zuck's codec avatar interview sheds…

Retention is something that VR very much needs to address. I'm not convinced that friction in using the hardware is a huge factor anymore. There's friction to getting a Switch out of its case and making sure its charged, but people do it. Let's look at a few ways it could be…

Of the 15 people closest people to me in my life (in my own generation) 7 out of 15 own a Quest 2. Not a single one still uses their headset on a regular basis, not even every 6 months. Meta either doesn't know why people like them quit, or doesn't seem to be doing much about…

Was proud to vote for @SDoughtyMP Congratulations on a great campaign and a fantastic Labour comeback across the UK.

Agree with you there, this will end very badly with 100% of voters annoyed

Govt already cut a deal with Nissan so I think you'll find it does matter, based on observable evidence

Yes they but don't have single market membership. You clearly don't understand the distinction.

Makes me laugh that people don't understand that banks and big business won't allow a hard Brexit. It will never happen.

Educate yourself about single market membership vs a zero or reduced tariff trade deal.

Yes worse than remaining, and I hope we do remain, but it looks unlikely

It will be the best possible outcome now, that's right. You obviously don't understand what single mkt membership is worth.

No, three judges have clarified how the law always worked in this country. Parliament is sovereign, not the will of the people.

Irony on Twitter, is like IQ chromatography.

@RepealtheLSEA Just saw the i09 article. Keep up the great work that you're doing. The world needs more young people like you.

Dear Jimmy Wales, Just stick ads on it. No one else really gives a damn. A huge begging banner on every page is no less bad than an advert.
