Special interests at the witness stand: The top 10 think tanks that testified on the House Foreign Affairs Committee since 2021 accepted $17 million from Pentagon contractors and $32 million from foreign governments. And, 3 of them disclose nothing about their funding sources. 🧵

Ah yes, climate-vulnerable nations getting ratio’d. The tell-tale sign of a functioning climate conference

Many hearing witnesses have conflicts of interest. To ++ transparency, @nick_clevelands says: ➡️Eliminate "personal capacity" loophole ➡️Disclose org funding from private companies with a vested interest in the committee's work ➡️Disclose all high-$$ foreign gov't funding

"...89 percent of think tank affiliated witnesses at the House Foreign Affairs Committee worked for organizations that accepted foreign government funding. Over half of these witnesses did not disclose any foreign government funding." #DarkMoney responsiblestatecraft.org/corporate-fore…

🧵Thread: Between Biden’s failed Israel policy & Harris’ embrace of hawkish rhetoric, it’s clear that the left needs new foreign policy leadership. After a disastrous election, is it time for the Dems to rebuild the party for peace? The answer: YES!

so the people telling Congress whether or not to wage wars are legally allowed to hide who funds their work? good system, normal country

NEW: 65% of think tank Congressional witnesses before the House Foreign Affairs Committee use a loophole to avoid disclosure of *any* conflicts of interest. The 119th Congress should close this loophole. 🧵 responsiblestatecraft.org/corporate-fore…

Sheldon Adelson is looking to give big dollars to Rubio because he feels he can mold him into his perfect little puppet. I agree!

Trump being a serious buzzkill as he reportedly taps uber hawks and longtime neocons like Marco Rubio for his foreign policy/nat sec shop. New from me: responsiblestatecraft.org/rubio-trump/

Some people are missing the point. Democrats didn't lose because Harris campaigned with Liz Cheney. But Democrats may have lost because they became the kind of party that thought that campaigning proudly with a Cheney was a good idea.

Biden and Harris ran for president as the candidates of the system, right down to campaigning with Dick Cheney’s daughter, Liz. They touted her moral rectitude even as most of the country knew the Cheneys for sponsoring foreign policy disaster. Thread:

Who's calling the shots in Washington? A new study found that ~80% of experts appearing before Congress are funded by arms makers and foreign interests, with even more taking dark money from think tanks that don’t disclose their backers.

Celso Amorim, Lula's main foreign policy advisor, said he supported Democrats, noting Lula endorsed Harris. He asserted, however, that one should "look for the positive." "In Trump's case, this could be a dose of realism, which can be useful, instead of excessive idealism"

Experts from think tanks with funding from arms makers or foreign governments are 14x more likely to appear before Congress. No wonder DC continues to choose profitable wars over the American people. The experts are literally telling them to.
