Posted a few days ago, the second preprint from our lab describes a sensitive, precise, and versatile feeding assay that could easily be your assay of choice if you want to measure how much food fruit flies consume under different circumstances.

Everyone's paranoid about AI in academic writing. The truth: AI won't ruin your papers. Typewriters didn't destroy handwriting. • Double-check AI output for errors—verify facts, citations, and logic. • Use AI to organize, but maintain control of ideas and analysis. • Track…

Forgot to collect my laptop after security check at Pune Airport😬. Ran back a few mins later when my backpack felt light😯. CISF person was super nice. They were about to start a thorough search. You guys do a great job daily! Heartfelt Thanks!! @AAI_Official, @MoCA_GoI

EXCITED to unroll this 🧵 on our new story on the metabolic licensing of animal development... How did we even get here..? shorturl.at/vuCIh Early embryo is thought of a pre-set machine that's set to go once it's fertilized - check out this gorgeous 📽️from Phil Keller!

Gonna get a tattoo on my chest that reads "just because a result is statistically significant does not mean it is biologically significant" & a matching tattoo on my back that reads "just because a result is biologically significant does not mean it is statistically significant"

The vocabulary of systems neuroscience may appear daunting to many. Here's a short dictionary of common terms. BTW if you use them in your papers and grants you will have greater success

Finally, its out on biorxiv. Our labs collaboration with Rubin lab@Janelia building CX specific cell types, determining their neurochemical identities and screening them for sleep phenotypes. 7 years in making and hopefully a great resource for the community.

We are excited to share educational materials designed to bring FlyWire into classrooms! We have designed interactive lessons to be used by high school and college teachers, instructors, or scientists doing outreach. Check it out: codex.flywire.ai/academy_home Image by @exp_perception

Building the FlyWire #connectome from the FAFB brain was a massive team effort. But neuroscientists need to find their favourite neurons in this huge dataset. We report an indexed parts list, systematically annotating all 127k neurons (Schlegel et al biorxiv.org/content/10.110…) 1/7

We are releasing a whole-brain connectome of the fruit fly, including ~130k annotated neurons and tens of millions of typed synapses! Explore the connectome: codex.flywire.ai Reconstruction paper: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Annotation paper: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/6

Another shout-out to an unsung hero of the #FlyWire connectome. Ten years ago, Rick Fetter cut a fly brain into 7000 slices, each 1000x thinner than a hair.

Counting from the perceptron/ integrate-and-fire versions, we’re at least into the fourth generation of models on how biological neurons work Through these generations, our understanding of the cellular basis of learning/memory also changed dramatically (1/)
