I have an essay in @Terrainorg wherein I refer to the guy as "former President." He'd signed legislation that cut off funding for residential facilities for children leaving no alternative. Hence children were housed in office buildings and hotel rooms.terrain.org/2024/nonfictio…

Dorothy! These words changed my life. But also I sent her a story of mine once, randomly, to her home, as a baby lesbian writer, and she actually put notes on it and sent it back to me. Then I got to meet her in person at Tin House.

One thing I know is that I’m staying sober today. You can too, if that’s good for you.

Zoe Leonard’s, I Want A President. Leonard wrote this in 1992, the yea poet Eileen Myles ran for president. Leonard says she would write this differently today but is interested in imagining what we want in our leaders, and even beyond that, what we can envision for the future.

Hey all, I find myself in yet another hallway, a good friend once reminded me that much of a writer's life is in a hallway, awaiting acceptance or rejection, what are things you like to do whilst stuck in the hallway?

are you in the west? are you a writer? I'd love to read your personal/critical accounts of sites of cultural production—art, food, books, poems, rodeos, hugging parties, readings, trivia, send pitches to Melissa dot chadburn at hcn dot org .50/word 1200-1800 words

Today @highcountrynews has excerpted from Maxim Loskutoff’s novel Old King, a story about the end of a frontier dream, based on true-life crimes of Ted Kaczynski, AKA the Unabomber. hcn.org/articles/the-e…

We are delighted to have an excerpt of Maxim Loskutoff's latest novel, Old King out by @WWNorton this week. Read this haunting account loosely based on true life crimes of Ted Kaczynski, aka Unabomber over @highcountrynews hcn.org/articles/the-e…
