Mobility is out today! I tried to write a novel about how oil moves in the world and how one particular person moves with it. It was a humbling, confounding, exhilarating experience. I'm so grateful to everyone who has supported this book at every stage. bookshop.org/p/books/mobili…
This is the part about the "abundance agenda" I don't get. Only market fundamentalists think deregulation alone produces abundance. Everyone else knows you need intense state marketcraft and a baseline guaranteed by public power.
Is there any reason to believe that the market equilibrium where real estate investment capital feels comfortable with its predicted returns will yield abundant high-quality housing?
As UNMENTIONABLES publishes, I'm celebrating by sharing portraits of the book's main characters. Meet Farris Marad, of the IWW's bargaining team at the 1912 Bread and Roses Strike Marad was arrested during the strike when dynamite was discovered at his home. His 1912 mug shot:
If every single Muslim and Arab in the country voted Harris she still would’ve been humiliated in the polls. The white guy who runs this account would better spend his time talking to his immediate family members who’ve been carrying Trump for 9 years now.
I’m glad I taught Democrats a lesson by voting for Trump
Defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth wrote in his 2020 book American Crusade that Muslims plan to out-breed "native" Americans and that the US faces a cultural invasion that Christians should fight like 11th-century crusaders: wapo.st/3O9EkzZ
BREAKING: The "nonprofit killer" bill is back on track. H.R. 9495 has been set for a hearing MONDAY before the House Rules Committee, which could tee it up for a floor vote next week. The bill was largely designed to target pro-Palestine groups theintercept.com/2024/11/15/non…
A PhD student used both Claude and Gemini as an AI therapist. She vented her frustrations around getting a cancer diagnosis, and joked about how much it was costing the healthcare system. The difference in responses is staggering.
often think of this one lol
American conservatism just doesn’t appeal to me because I’m not scared of everything.. not scared of immigrants, crime, using public transportation, cities. I’m interested in other people and like talking to them. Even if someone is weird it doesn’t really bother me.
“The drones would come down and pick off civilians – children.” A former NHS surgeon, Nizam Mamode, who spent a month working in Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza, broke down while testifying about children in Gaza being shot by drones.
“It doesn’t matter who you are in Gaza, if you’re a Palestinian you’re a target.” Harrowing, heartbreaking testimony from Prof. Mamode that provides further evidence of the Israeli military’s repeated and deliberate targeting of civilians. Content warning - difficult to watch
US law is clear: No nation blocking US humanitarian aid can receive US weapons. Palestinian children are forced to eat pet food and bug infested flour, but @SecBlinken says there’s no need to change our policy. The Biden administration is refusing to comply with US law.
This line by Lynch also really struck me: “I wish what every addict wishes for: that what we love is good for us.” (But he says now: “I can hardly walk across a room. It’s like you’re walking around with a plastic bag around your head.”)
Trump wants to slash EV subsidies—with Musk's support. Why? Bc Musk thinks this will increase his competitive advantage. This shows how climate ppl who worship Musk fundamentally misunderstand capitalism. He's not trying to change the system, but to own a niche.
In Atlanta, where Cortland Mgmt is based, rents have increased **56%** since 2016, when algorithmic price fixing tools took hold. Supply and demand do not explain inflated rental prices. Rental housing cartels do, and @JusticeATR is cracking down on these criminal conspiracies.

A lifelong mediocrity, lacking the charisma and political talent of his ancestors, trading on his famous name to make a country he has contributed nothing to sicker and more dangerous.
Muting this because it has escaped containment and reached weird people crying about the truly non-onerous accommodations of a meeting they'll never attend 🤗
Voting was suspended in the NZ parliament after a Māori party MP began singing the haka whilst ripping up a controversial bill relating to Māori rights
Forensic Architecture put out a 827-page report analysing Israeli military actions, demonstrating in practice the genocide, and it's been largely ignored. Findings include: "Between 7 Oct 2023 and 30 June 2024 approximately 83% of all plant life in Gaza was destroyed."

These Crusader tattoos are part of Xn far-right iconography &, when Hegseth's Nat'l Guard unit was called up to serve in DC for Biden's inauguration, Hegseth + several other service members were told they couldn't serve b/c of their extremist tattoos. 14/ newsweek.com/pete-hegseth-w…
People being forced South from the North today, walking past the destroyed houses where families used to live. We pass a dead body on the beach, being eaten by dogs. Ribcage showing and laying face down. A man putting up his fist in the air while walking down towards the…
