Quick 🧵 on the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. Traditionally, it was mostly used to find farm workers from abroad. That's still a big aspect of the program. But increasingly, it's used to find low-wage cooks, cleaners and construction workers.

Dreadful take. Perceptions matter. See: Inflation expectations.

Heliene Inc., a maker of solar panels in Sault Ste. Marie, got caught up in Trump's first trade war. The message was clear to the company's CEO: “Move our manufacturing to the United States or die.” And that's what they ended up doing. theglobeandmail.com/business/artic…

Think back to a time long, long ago (2017-18), when the Trudeau Liberals renegotiated the North American trade deal, and it was largely the same as the old one.

Trump said he wants to renegotiate the USMCA trade deal. Canada needs a STRONG LEADER to negotiate our economic future with the Americans!

In Canada I'd argue the inflation hole is even worse, because housing costs have hit more income classes Mid-to-high income workers can barely save money renting in suburban places like Mississauga or Pickering

The macroeconomy is strong--high growth, low unemployment, falling inflation--the best of any advanced economy. But there was a reluctance to present/understand how families were still not out of the deep inflation hole. And too much masked by cherrypicking/misleading stats.

Trump will see this and absolutely bully him out of the Fed. Book it.

Powell responds with an emphatic "no" when asked if he would resign if Trump asked him to leave

My latest for @IRPP: I dug through @CitImmCanada data and found “a handful of colleges where 100 per cent of their international students have claimed asylum in recent years”. @MarcMillerVM @JustinTrudeau go toss the bad 🍏, stop blaming intl students. policyoptions.irpp.org/magazines/nove…
