“Data-driven policymaking ensures policies are strategic and not reactionary”. Glad to have reiterated this need for evidence informed policy interventions at the Research and Policy Forum organized by IRC and KAP-FD in Nairobi today.

We show in this short update that access to citizenship makes accessing the labor market much easier for formerly stateless populations. For the Shona, we see the bar chart shows the top improvements post-citizenship:

Congratulations to the 2024 #NansenAward winners. For the first time, all five awardees are women. They are compassionate leaders who have dedicated their lives to helping refugees, displaced and stateless people. Their courage and stories are inspiring: bit.ly/47XGZWq

☕️ Happy #InternationalCoffeeDay In Cox's Bazar, in the world's largest refugee camp, you can now find a coffee shop + bakery. With support from our partners, Rohingya refugees learn new skills. ☕️+🥐 👇

This is not a problem that should stay unresolved for 8 years. Rohingya are likely the only population in the world right now who are simultaneously refugee and stateless at the same time. Solution is not an option - it is a necessity.

Honoured to take part in the discussion on #Rohingya refugees led by the @ChiefAdviserGoB This is a yearly #UNGA event but Dr Yunus’ presence and vision meant that it wasn’t business as usual. We must strive to end the Rohingya people’s discrimination, statelessness and exile.

We are outraged and deeply saddened by the killing of two beloved members of the UNHCR family and extend our deepest sympathies to their families. The protection of civilians is a must, in line with obligations under international humanitarian law. unhcr.org/lb/18817-unhcr…

Have you ever considered how valuable water is? In a Kenyan suburb, I spotted this household locking up their outdoor tap. It’s a powerful reminder to protect every drop.
