Throughout my life,
I haven’t been poor
Nor have lived

Pointing at the moon,
looking at the moon,
I’m just an old traveler

The working class doesn’t want redistributive center-left policies, they want populist predistributive ones. They’re not voting against their economic self-interests, they’re demanding policies that are better than the ones that make New Dem elites feel better.

The fundemental coalitional fact of our time is that wealthy voters are more supportive of economic redistribution than the working class right now. That’s ideologically inconvenient but it’s true and ignoring it just leads to incorrect political strategy.

Insane that Israel is carrying out 100s of air strikes on Syria and no Western leader will say a word. The West has not an inch of moral high ground from which to lecture Russia on bombing Ukraine or illegally annexing Ukrainian territory.

Another vital piece from Taj. He is from Luton, former home to huge amounts of industry, Tommy Robinson and Andrew Tate. It's also where the Vauxhall plant is set to close, costing over a thousand jobs. Among the biggest winners from that will be the far right.

Young men are entering into an economy that is unequal, a society that is atomised and workplaces that are insecure. Right-wing influencers posing as self-help gurus are appealing directly to them. But an alternative is possible. Me for @guardian theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

And unlike FDR, they were more afraid by and obsessed with fascism than having the courage to harness populist forces for a new deal

Just putting this out there: the jacket the CEO-murderer wore is flying off the shelves. That sort of popular anger was there to be harvested this past November by the the Democratic Party, were they led with the kind of valor, empathy, and populist courage FDR showed.
