A reminder that we have an opening at Sydney for someone looking to start a research group in quantum theory. It's "level B/C" which roughly means tenure track in North American parlance. Contact me or @BartlettQuantum for info usyd.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/USYD_EXTERNAL_…

#quantum friends - I have several students (masters level) who have travel funding to attend a summer or winter school in 2025. Does anyone know of any good ones being organized?

It appears my teenage years were not wasted….

Civilization VII was announced today. The Civ series is sort of like Ender’s Game, but for management rather than murdering aliens. Business school students who were good at Civ V also turn out to be better planners, organizers, and problem-solvers, in this small experiment.

Huge congrats to my quantum colleagues Xanthe Croot @SydneyNano @Sydney_Uni and Maja Cassidy @maja_cassidy @UNSWScience for securing ARC fellowships. They’re experimentalists working on the hard science questions. Aussie quantum leadership is in very good hands! @SydneyQuantum

Someone better be sorting out the film rights for this story now - I’m there in the audience already!

Ghost in The Machine JH Kim joins the Chem Dept in Korea University in 1996, fresh faced, 24 years old. He’s a synthesist, an experimental chemist of the old school. He believes the truth is in the making, and that you follow the truth even when it destroys your reality. He…
