This is the key point. There are plenty of Dem delegates at this Convention here in Chicago who I am sure support an arms embargo and are against what’s happening in Gaza BUT they don’t want it to get in the way of pro-Kamala party atmosphere. It’s an inconvenient genocide.
My speech urged us to unite behind Harris, criticized Trump, and spoke about the promise of this moment. The only reason we’re doing this is to save the soul of our party and prevent bad actors from using our pain in an ongoing voter suppression campaign.
I mean I’m sure they would have welcomed a Palestinian speaker who wanted to stand up, praise the Biden administration, univocally endorse Harris, and criticize Donald Trump — but I’m guessing that’s not what the activists were pushing for.
