At both ends, the rakyat's interests are being determined by unelected representatives who are unaccountable to the public, are politically untouchable and whose business interests may not align with the common good. LINK: bloomberg.com/graphics/2024-…

Don't need to worry about the American elections, we have our version of Democrats vs Republican here. Democrats, who pander to people who will never vote for them and Republicans, who want to champion religious fascism 😌

wtf with the action and the tone of the reply. good luck with wordpress

This has happened several times before, and in line with the guidelines you agreed to by being in the directory: github.com/wordpress/wpor… Best of luck with your version. We're looking forward to making ours amazing for our users, using the best GPL code available.

There are boat tours for Israeli settlers to look on as Gaza gets blown up. Tourists watching genocide, preparing to move in. How can anyone defend this?

If PH corners itself into being a widely disliked one-term government, when they are out of power they will beg for the favor of people they swiped aside while in power, but never regain their trust. PH then is only viable if it forever kowtows to the right-wing Malay parties.

This raises so many issues... copyright infringement is usually a civil matter, unless its related to mass distribution (piracy), which again, the enforcement should be legal charges rather than just blocking access to the site. Where is the due process for any of this?

I checked with @MCMC_RASMI - there was a request by @KPDN_HQ made directly to ISPs in June and copied to MCMC, for copyright violation. As this block request originated from KPDN, will have to check with them on this.

This is spot on. This DNS redirection could have several implications for foreign businesses operating in the country such as: 1. Privacy concerns - foreign bizz that rely on secure global DNS services may see the redirection as an intrusion on privacy, as local ISPs may log or…

DNS Benda simple tapi macam biasa ada org MCMC ingat dia hebat pastu suggest nak buat DNS rerouting. Implikasi dia besar. Tak terkejut la kalau ada investments yg @anwaribrahim susah payah tarik dari seluruh dunia ni nanti akan tarik handbrake.

@fahmi_fadzil please look beyond just yourself and your term. Legislations and policies enacted 40+ years ago are still used as political tools against the people sometimes beyond the intended objective. This is bigger than Madani. This is for Malaysia

It's not moral panic or a anti-pornography or anything like that that's pushing the Malaysian government to set ugly precedents with DNS hijacking limiting the rakyat's access to a fast, free Internet. It is control, pure and simple. Anything else is just smoke and mirrors.

Dulu DAP ajar kita untuk pakai Google DNS. Bila dah jadi govt, dia yg tak kasi guna google DNS. Lepas tu tanya orang website mana yang diblock. Zaman ni, Insider dah tutup, Insight pun dah takde. So, nak buat apa beri orang pakai google DNS ye tak? dapmalaysia.org/unblockmcmc/?s…

So get this. @ArtStationHQ was blocked because there was a KPDN complaint of copyright violation. That's all it takes for a global website to be blocked in Msia. This govt is so incompetent & trigger-happy when it comes to the Internet. No sense, no proportionality.

dapmalaysia.org/unblockmcmc/ funny thing is that they taught the rakyat how to use the dns, and they want to ban it, so double standards

Here's an interesting case to consider. Imagine that Meta is "licensed" by Msian govt under this proposed licensing policy. And it removes PM's post (as per today) for allegedly going against community guidelines. What happens to Meta and its license and who decides?

Msia requested 1,862 TikTok content takedowns in the second half of 2023 - the highest in the world. Indonesia only requested 351 takedown requests on 2H23, Vietnam with 138, Philippines (113), Thailand (70), Spore (47) Cambodia (7). If this does not set alarm bells ringing.

People in power want to remain in power. That is why they keep bad laws like the Sedition Act even though they have promised repeatedly to repeal it. When they lose power, the bad laws remain, free to be used by the new people in power. The rakyat will be the loser, as always.

In any case, this is the world we’re moving to. Your phone might seem to be in your pocket, but a part of it lives 2,000 miles away in a data center. As security folks we probably need to get used to that fact, and do the best we can to make sure all parts are secure. //fin
