A few months ago I got a call to say a chap called Steve was in our school reception to see me. I went down there only to be met by Steve Cooper. He'd heard from one of our pupils that we had a #NFFC display in our school and that I often spoke about them in assembly. (1/2)

#dataisbeautiful #adventcalendar 13: What really matters for #wellbeing? The answer from this, and countless other studies, is clear: family members' welfare and one's own health are significantly more important than money or work, across all age groups. mckinsey.dsmn8.com/DD1nTu5P9x

.@JimBethell rightly talks about the need for a ‘pivot to prevention’. Go back even further. Health starts in homes, workplaces and communities not at the door of the hospital or GP surgery. How about a policy ‘curve to (health) creation? #StateofHealthandCare

Still coming down from the highs of a night in @jamietmusic's company. Totally raucous, joyful and engaging. It's amazing being in a crowd where everyone's friends for the evening

Oof, the doom-scroll is especially doomy today. Three thoughts on staying positive. 🧵

What was the last gig you went to that you couldn't describe in actual words? Mine was Godspeed! You Black Emperor and it was just phenomenal

So someone with over 300 offences in his life story who has been homeless and screened out of multiple services for 30+ years appears to be not offending anymore because an amazing caseworker was empowered to ask what mattered and to agree what acting upon that looked like. 1/

Leaders say they “haven’t got time for strategy” because they want to “do practical things to improve lives” = more meaningless initiatives in a strategic vacuum. These won’t change a thing. They never have. A long term shift in power to local citizens is the strategy. That’s it.

We've had some negativity on Twitter today about us supporting migrants' mental health. We do, and we're really proud of that. We're here for everyone. And that includes refugees and asylum seekers in England & Wales, who have often experienced unimaginable trauma.

I need to read this properly, but such important themes incl: -Health and Care systems explicitly recognising structural racism and discrimination as drivers of ill health -the need for cultural competence training and service design -VCS-led health literacy progs for local comms
