Just as it’s illegal for companies to lie to consumers, it should be illegal for politicians to lie to voters. I joined fellow independents to support Kate Chaney's "Restoring Trust" Bill. It makes sure the major political parties don't get to write the rules to suit themselves.

Mohamed and Izzeddin were both born refugees in #Gaza. Both were shot by the IDF and lost a leg in 2018. Both went to the USA for free medical care in 2019 to learn to walk again. Both were killed along with their families this week in different airstrikes on their homes. 🇵🇸☮️✌️

Everyday we ask our friends and colleagues in #Gaza if they’re alive. A simple text. Are you still alive. Today the silence from Izzeddin Nawasra was heartbreaking - He was murdered in an airstrike on his home in the Maghazi refugee camp last night. Here’s his story. (Thread)

Filed this story day ~before~ St Vincent's Health Aus revealed it had been the target of enormous data breach, including sensitive patient files / financial information. My story, based on internal memo, has some explanatory power about management at SVHA. thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/health/20…

Brian Cox reads If I Must Die, by beloved Palestinian poet, teacher and martyr Refaat Alareer. Refaat was killed on December 7th by an Israeli airstrike. This was the last poem he published.

We are devastated by the UN Security Council’s failure to adopt a resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza—blocked by a solitary veto from the United States. “By vetoing this resolution, the US stands alone in casting its vote against humanity.” msf.org/msf-calls-us-v…

If I called for huge protests all over the world, especially in the US to stop killing us and call for a ceasefire Do you believe we could move the people to do it? Ceasefire now!

Asked what he’ll now do for indigenous Australians Peter Dutton said that between now and the next election he’ll take advice from Jacinta Price and then formulate policies. One voice. One. Do you get the irony?

Cigna uses an automated system that allows “medical directors” (doctors employed by @Cigna) to deny a claim in 1.2 seconds without opening the patient’s file. Please read this, share it, and help us (metaphorically) burn these companies to the ground.

Doctors at a major US insurance company deny tens of thousands of claims a month without even looking at patients’ files. “We literally click & submit,” a former Cigna doctor told @ProPublica & @Capitol_Forum “It takes all of 10 seconds to do 50 at a time.” The inside story 🧵

Nurses' pay has fallen by 5% since 2010. The pay offer will lead to a predicted further fall of 5%. The PM describes this as "appropriate and fair"!! nuffieldtrust.org.uk/resource/chart…

Planning with a non-GP specialist to attend a Narrative Medicine conference together, and she has CME funding AND paid leave, and I do not. 😭 I did not consider any of these logistics when I chose General Practice as a specialty, and I'm a bit cranky about the disparity.

Please read. Ruby recently died from COVID in Queensland. A life cut short because we have undeniably failed at managing the pandemic in Australia. Children deserve to be protected. What else can be done @AlboMP @Mark_Butler_MP ? R.I.P Ruby ❤️

It took us 2 years to suffer 5000 deaths, it took us 6 months to suffer another 5000. Australia’s response to COVID in the first 2 years was one of the best in the world. Why do we rank so poorly now? theconversation.com/australias-res… via @ConversationEDU
