A total treat hearing Bonnie Garmus discuss her book Lessons in Chemistry, one of the best I’ve read in the last year. About the main character Elizabeth Zott, Garmus said she “wrote her role model.” Love to see it! 💪🏻

DAY ONE. I’m very excited to start today as an investigative reporter at the @nytimes, focused on the world of nonprofits. You all know that world much better than I do. So where should I start digging? Reply here with ideas or email me at daf@nytimes.com
Fellow fundraisers: Take note. 👇🏻
Can we please normalize using community first language? Instead of saying “high-risk” or “high-crime” community, say “a community experiencing ___” This reduces place-based stigma & highlights systemic issues like divestment or transit inequity instead of labelling the community.
Deciding and doing are not the same thing.
