Very cloudy here in Maryland but I saw it! Last time I saw solar eclipse was 2017 when I was at UNC’s graduate student orientation. This marks the duration of my time in the US, spanning across 2 solar eclipses :D
I’ll be a co-convener for Session EP14B Drivers of Earth’s Surface Change in an Era of Rapid Climate and Land Use Change that’s happening on Monday. Our session features presentations on the impacts of various climate driven changes on land surface processes. Come check it out!
If you’re looking for a presentation at #AGU23 to fill your schedule on Tuesday at 8:55 am PST, feel free to stop by my talk on hindcasting hydrological conditions for landslides in Session Cascading Hazards: Linking Processes Across Earth's Surface in Moscone West 2002!!
New study quantifying the U.S.-wide NO2 all-cause attributable mortality burden published today in @EnvSciTech with @weathergaige, @SusanAnenberg & @danethanNU 171,000 premature deaths/yr are linked to NO2 w/ higher burdens for communities of color. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac… 🧵1/6
I wonder what it will take for these Indonesian fires to get mass media attention? Thousands of fires, smoke plumes the size of France, tens of millions exposed to hazardous smoke, & the loss of crucial carbon stores. The Tenerife fires have had more coverage! Today's image:
Excited to share our study on the air quality, health and equity implications of electric heavy-duty vehicles, published in @naturesustainab this morning! Co-authors include @StacyAtEarth, @ZacAdelman, @emilygrubert, @SusanAnenberg & @danethanNU 🧵1/5 nature.com/articles/s4189…
I spent 3 days in the ForceSMIP hackathon hosted at @NCAR_Science’s Mesa Lab, Boulder learning climate variability, statistical methods, climate modeling, and forced and unforced climate response. Pic shows a group of cool and productive climate scientists and/or statisticians
So sad to see what happened at UNC - the same building I had studied in for years… Hope people I know or I don’t know there can get through this trauma
#Rainfall consistency is changing across the U.S. New research from @NorthwesternU's @danethanNU and @RyanDHarp traces #precipitation #variability across the country.
