This is such a major milestone: On Thursday 12 Sept at 4-5.15pm CET, the @coe will host a webinar on the importance of sign languages and their teaching, learning and assessment through the #CEFR Companion Volume. Sign up required by tomorrow! coe.int/en/web/languag…

It was so good to have the opportunity to cite Jon Henner at @IRAAL_Ireland today: "How you language is beautiful. Don't let anyone tell you your languaging is wrong. Your languaging is the story of your life". #iraal2024

🟢 Wow! What a fantastic opening keynote for #IRAAL2024 @leesonl presents on languages and the recreation of identities in signing communities Ireland. A stand-out quote for us: How you language is beautiful... Your languaging is the story of your life (Jon Henner)

A delight to be @IRAAL_Ireland @UCC to deliver a keynote session on a theme close to my heart. Preparing for today reaffirmed some gaps, including an ISL Strategy, a digital plan for #ISL, and so much around access to #ISL for children & their families.

What an amazing and absolutely eye-opening presentation @leesonl on Irish Sign Language and its importance for the creation of identities. This keynote provided me who knows so little about the topic with lots of insights and things to use in practice. @IRAAL_Cork24

In Dublin City Centre tonight? Don’t be shocked if you happen to see a giant 20 metre newt meandering about the place. Created by Macnas, the puppet (named Alf) will appear on Capel Street at 7.30pm, before making his way over the Liffey and ending up at Dublin Castle.

At our monthly staff update today, I encouraged everyone to mention higher education funding when politicians come calling ahead of the General Election. It is so important that we keep up the pressure to ensure that the funding gap for the sector is closed. #InvestInHigherEd

For our chapter in this volume, Robin Angelini, @katta_spiel and I interviewed deaf and hearing professionals involved in sign language machine translation about their perspectives on the development of signing avatars. Happy to see this out!

Delighted to see this volume now in print, co-edited with Andy Way & Dimitar Shterioniov with great contributions from colleagues, deaf and hearing, from across Europe & further afield. .@AdaptCentre @EUD_Brussels @SignONEU @EASIERproject link.springer.com/book/10.1007/9…
