It might help to offer a thread giving some highlights from the synthesis - with just a smidge of analysis. /1

This is clearly going to be the big news for the Church in Ireland this week: synod.ie/synthesis-of-t… - it'll be interesting to see what digging through it reveals. I'm glad there's a section on 'Notable Issues That Were Not Strongly Present from the Consultation'. That matters.

My friend @maolsheachlann wrote this poem which seems suitable for sharing today. There’ll be two other poems by him in the sixth issue of Leaven, which might - please God - make it out next month. We’ve had more perfect storms to stop things than I’d have thought possible.

And that's a substantive interview with @friaronwater fired off to the designers at @leavenmag, complete with thoughts on science in the developing world, why Euclid matters, helping students to fail, and why we should trust our public health authorities. It's coming together!

It’s exciting seeing the first dozen pages of @leavenmag issue six laid out, and the cover drafted too. Most of it with the designers now, and me polishing the text of the rest, I think it’s going to be a good one. Horribly late, which is all on me, but really great.

I shared this the other day - huffpost.com/archive/ca/ent… - but think it’s worth sharing again today, as perhaps is this: catholicvoices.org.uk/blog/benedict-… There are a million things I could say about Benedict, mostly good, and I trust he’ll continue to sustain the Church in silence. RIP.

This will definitely be one to watch!

Great to be here at @MDCCE_DCU for Prof. John Sullivan’s talk on ‘Credible Christian Communication Today’. John’s most recent book, ‘Lights for the Path’, which had me as the last link in its editorial chain, is absolutely brilliant and available here: veritasbooksonline.com/lights-for-the…

Sr Carino is a long-standing member of the Leaven team, having contributed to two issues so far, with a third piece on the way, and we have hopes for Cork’s own Sr Mary Benedict joining her on our pages the odd time in Volume 2 - seeing them together again was a joyous privilege.

This time last week, Srs Carino & Lucy attended the solemn profession of Sr Mary Benedict OSB, at St Cecilia's Abbey IOW. Srs Carino & Mary Benedict knew each other before becoming religious, so it is a particular joy that they each made their life-vows in 2022. (Photo @GregDaly)
